Antipasto is an Italian food tradition. It means food before the main meal. The antipasto consists of small bites of meats, cheeses, vegetables and breads. It can be served on trays, platters, individual small plates or presented on a large table to portray an antipasto bar. The serving of antipasto is conducive to relaxation, conversation, intimacy and entertainment. It blends great with red or white wine.
A simple antipasto plate consists of 4 to 8 ingredients. Some of the choices you can include are as follows:
- Mortadella, prosciutto, capicollo, Genoa salami and sopressata are all perfect choices.
- Parmigiano Reggiano, provolone, Gouda, ripe brie, bocconcini, spiced havarti mozzarella, Asiago and fontina.
- Marinated grillrf vegetales, such as sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini, mushrooms, artichoke hearts,eggplant, zuccihini
- Assorted olives. Kalamata, garlic-stuffed green olives or a marinated mix.
- Breads. Sliced baguettes, crusty Italian bread.
