This past week, we were extremely lucky to host such a wonderfully executed rustic, high tea bridal shower. From the décor to the food every detail was perfectly quaint and themed. It was all in the details for this shower. The planners sourced their inspiration from various blogs and Pinterest, which can be seen here.
Our in house chef, Hani Ben Shabat, catered all the food and Laura Windman, of Laura Jordan Designs, created the décor. Laura is a visionary when it comes to producing the exact look, feel and style you are going for. She was able to make the planners’ vision into a reality. Lets take a look!
The first step was deciding on the linens. We have a selection of our own linens here at The Avenue Banquet Hall and the most appropriate choice was going with the ivory jacquard fabric. The patterned fabric gave the illusion of a lace backdrop for all of the elements set on top of it. Next Laura, made a burlap table runner that had a lace detail over top, blending in the feel of rustic and charm. Simple white chair covers and napkins were used in order to let what was on the table be the focus.
We used our own gold charger plates and decided to add a charming addition of individual menus folded within the napkins.
The teacups and saucers were rented from a business called Vintage Tea Party Fine China Rentals, which is located in Aurora. Their cups are one of the cheapest rentals in the market for $2.50 per cup and saucer. They were also able to waive the delivery fee, providing you do it yourself. They are only 20 minutes away from our banquet hall in Vaughan.
The centerpieces used the foundation of a teapot, which was spray painted gold, to hold a stunning array of purple and pink flowers.
A lovely way guests were greeted before taking their seats, was with a serve yourself mimosa bar. We put pre cut berries which were placed in the champagne flutes and had orange slices on the side with orange juice in glass pitchers.
We also made a water station, which served cucumber and lemon mint flavoured water.
Let’s talk about the food! On the 3 tiered serving trays, we had tea sandwiches featuring cream cheese and smoked salmon with capers, cream cheese and cucumber, egg and tuna salad. On the second tier, there were assorted scones with flavours such as cranberry lemon and chive. On the third tier were various petits fours with pastries such as fruit tarts, macarons, and éclairs.
There was also a hot food station, which gave guests the opportunity to walk around the room. Here we had mini quiches and spanakopita. Later into the event, we replaced the hot food with even more desserts such as our famous Pots de Crème served in espresso mugs and mini crème brulee.
