Winter Wedding Trends

As the cold weather prevails, we can’t help noticing the affect and influence it has on the décor at our Toronto banquet hall. Of course, there are always the winter inspired cocktails and seasonal recipes, but more and more we are seeing wedding flowers and centrepieces take direction from the winter weather.

Cocktail Hour

A winter wedding begins by welcoming guests from out of the cold and into a toasty setting. Why not embrace the weather by offering hot chocolate and warm apple cider? For more winter inspired drinks, check out our Winter Cocktail recipe guide.

 Floral

Red roses, calla lilies, and amaryllis are like the mascot for winter floral trends. Some brides and parties however, are moving away from flowers and heading towards a more leafy approach. We are currently seeing an increased amount of wild greenery. The perfectly symmetrical centrepiece is taking a step back for looser, draping bouquets. Try hanging floral chandeliers or tabletops and railings adorned with greenery.

 Centrepieces

Try bringing the outside, inside. A festive idea is to have ice sculptures that act as the base of your centerpiece. We’ve seen ice-carved vases that florists fill with winter branches and hanging crystals. Make sure there are lots of votive candles to bring a touch of romantic warmth to the ambiance of the room.

Colour Schemes

A simple, yet stunning colour scheme is all white-from your table cloths to your napkins and flowers-all white is cost effective and perfectly reflects a winter wonderland. Other favourites of winter weddings are touches of silver and crystal.

 Favours

If you are going to give a parting gift to your guests, why not make is winter themed. We’ve seen chocolate-covered cranberries or roasted chestnuts go over well with departing guests. Miniature bottles of ice wine are also a delicious, seasonal gift.
