Winter is upon us and that means it’s time to cozy up with some winter wedding drinks and cocktails. When the season changes, your menu, including your drinks, should always reflect the seasonal ingredients and themes. Your drinks are the perfect way to incorporate those festive times ahead with ingredients like nutmeg, peppermint and chocolate. In this week’s wedding blog and for #foodiefriday, we share what the bartenders at our Toronto and Vaughan banquet hall are mixing up for upcoming winter weddings and holiday parties.
Candy Cane Martini
This is a delicious treat with a peppermint candy cane rim, perfect for any holiday partygoer with a sweet tooth.
Ingredients
2 oz of vodka, or if you can find
1 oz Vanilla Schnapps
1 oz Cranberry Juice
Peppermint Candy Canes crushed for the rim
Directions
1. Rub a lemon around the edge of a martini glass or dip into a plate of water. Place the crushed candy canes onto a shallow plate and dip the wet rim into it.
2. In a strainer combine all the liquids and shake well.
3. Pour in the glass and serve!
Pomegranate Bubbly
Pomegranates are in season so why not try incorporating them into your drink. The redness from the fruit is also a perfect holiday and winter colour.
Ingredients
1 oz pomegranate liqueur or 3 tablespoons pomegranate juice
5 oz champagne
3 pomegranate seeds
Directions
1. Drop in 1 oz of your pomegranate liquid at the bottom of the glass.
2. Simply pour your choice of champagne on top of the juice.
3. Garnish with seeds and serve!
Snow Ball
This blue cocktail is a fun way to remind your guests of the snowy weather up ahead. It has a tropical taste to warm up anyone who drinks it.
Ingredients
2 oz vanilla flavored vodka
2 oz Malibu rum
2 oz Coco Lopez
¼ oz Blue Curacao
Directions
1. Pour all liquids into a shaker with ice, shake well and serve!
2. For something extra, try rimming the glass with sugar or shredded coconut.
Godiva Coffee
This coffee is the perfect treat to accompany any dessert, or can be served as dessert on its own!
Ingredients
1 cup hot coffee
1 dash vodka
1 dash Kahlua
1 dash Godiva liqueur
1 dash heavy cream or milk
Whipped cream
Directions
1. Use drip coffee or make an Americano
2. Add a small dash of alcohols and cream, or milk depending on the preference.
3. Top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate for that extra added touch!
Apple Cider Punch
Apples are in season fall to winter, so why not make your cider into a tasty winter wedding cocktail!
Ingredients
2 oz rum
4 oz apple cider
1 oz maple syrup
1 oz lemon juice
Directions
1. Combine all of the ingredients into a shaker and pour into a Tom Collins glass filled with ice.
2. Try garnishing with apples!
