Persian weddings are rich in cultural traditions. They are vibrant, elaborate and beautiful.
The typical Iranian wedding consists of two parts. Part one is the Aghd which is the legal ceremony in which the bride and groom exchange vows in front of an officiant. The second part is the Aroosi which is the wedding ceremony.
The most beautiful part of the Aghd is the Sofreh Aghd. This is an elaborate spread of food and decorations placed in front of the bride and groom. The following items are placed in front of the couple: seven herbs, seven pastries, mirror, two candelabras, bread, eggs, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pomegranates, grapes, apples, persian rose,a bowl made of crstallized sugar, coins, a sacred text ( for Christians it would be the Bible, for Zorastians it would be the Avesta, for Muslims it would be the Qur’an ), prayer carpet.
The Avenue Banquet Hall hosts many Persian wedding ceremonies. The in house catering team has created specialized Persian menus.
