Henna

Henna is body art.  It has been incorporated into various cultural rituals celebrating weddings and births. Moroccan Jews have a henna ceremony prior to a wedding as well as some Hindus.

Henna is the application of a natural dye to the skin (temporary tattoo). The leaves of the henna plant are crushed, mixed with liquid and applied to the skin. Colours of the pattern range from light brown to dark brown or orange depending on the skin type and body part applied.

Some typical sweets served at a henna ceremony.
